Videos Reviews

Hello!
This week, I chose to watch “Leonardo da Vinci: The mind of the renaissance” and “The drawing of Michelangelo” because I am fascinated by their work of arts. I wanted to learn more about their lives and their artworks.
From the video “Leonardo da Vinci: The mind of the renaissance”, I learned that Leonardo’s mother was a servant girl and his father; a lawyer. I also learned that Leonardo was the first to make an actual landscape the main focus of the drawing.
From watching the video “The drawing of Michelangelo”, I learned that Michelangelo drew all his life but destroyed most of his own drawing because they showed his unwillingness.
These videos related to the readings in the text because they show different artists and their work of art.
I like the films because they were both interesting to watch. The videos added depth to my understanding of the reading and art concepts as they tell different stories of the two greatest artists of all time and how they came to be. Now I know little bit more about Leonardo and Michelangelo.

Dominant VS. Non - Dominant

Hello Everyone

This week, we had to draw our hand as a subject using the opposite hand which i find really interesting and a little tough because i had to focus on both of my hands; going back and forth to see the details.
I chose to use Pencils because it was easier to erase when I made mistakes.
Creating a drawing with a non-dominant hand was tough because I was not able to draw a straight line. I had to sketch first with a 2H pencil and sketch over it with a 4B.
I believe they are successful studies. I did not expect the results to be better than what was in my mind.
Yes, I would use my non-dominant hand to create artworks in the future. I have never thought about it  before but I just found out that I can actually write with my non - dominant hand. And maybe in few years, I will be able to draw with it nice too.

Module 8 Video Review

Hello Everyone
This week we had to watch few videos where I watched “More Human Than Human” and “Art and Life in the Middle Ages: The Luttrell Psalter”. I chose to watch “Art and Life in the Middle Ages: The Luttrell Psalter” because I wanted to understand how art was in the middle ages and learn about Luttrell Psalter.
The key concept that I learned from the video “More Human Than Human” is that Imaginings things makes our lives better by influencing us to feel and think in a different way.
The key concept that I learned from watching “Art and Life in the Middle Ages: The Luttrell Psalter” is that the religion played a very important role in terms of art and that the drawings of the monsters in prayers book remains a mystery till this day.
The videos relate to the readings in the text because they both describes the significance of art and how it changed in different ages. Both the videos were interesting as they added depth to my understanding of the reading and art concepts by explaining arts in the different era.

Video Reviews

Hello Everyone
This week we had to watch videos and write reviews regarding them.
From watching the video “Architecture: The science of Design”, the key concept I learnt is that Skyscrapers are built to withstand not only gravity, but also wind, precipitation, and earthquakes. Skyscrapers requires different kinds of foundation to make it stronger. And from watching the video: Frank Gehry, I learnt that Gehry is a Famous architect who built many buildings. Gehry developed his own architecture vocabulary words.
The videos related to the readings because they both: the videos and the readings explains the importance of architects.  I did not choose the films I watched as it was required for this Module, but I did enjoy it. It added depth to my understanding of Architecture. I learned a lot from these two videos; regarding the importance of having many foundations on skyscrapers and the significant of the architect.

Blog Reviews

Hello Everyone

This week, we had to comment on our peer’s projects. Yay fun!!
I wasn’t able to comment on any of my classmate’s projects I don’t know why. I went through a lot of work trying to figure out the solution to it. But still I couldn’t figure out. I was able to type but not publish. Later, i changed the browser to Microsoft Edge, and it works perfectly fine.
I agreed with the elements and the principles that students chose to display when looking at the project #1. I found it really interesting looking at Trevor’s and Ariel’s ideas and concepts. Some of the pictures for elements and principles looked brilliant, especially the umbrellas with different colors and Ariel’s rainbow from above the clouds.
No, I didn't come across any of the same pictures when looking at project #2. I enjoyed looking at their projects. I also enjoyed reading my classmate’s reflections. Few of the images that Ariel posted were very interesting, especially the one called “Virgin and Child” because the picture really stands out and brings out a lot of questions such as: if the woman in the picture is virgin, why does it look like she’s about to breastfeed the child that’s not hers? Why are there so many children in red? She is in blue dress which also makes it very interesting because everything else beside the background is red

Listed above are some of the links i commented on.

Hello and Welcome back

This week, we had to watch two videos and read chapters in the book.
The Key concepts I learnt from watching “through the eyes” is that sculpting is very difficult to master. Only the talented ones; for example: Emmanuel can master the abilities to sculpt. And that sculpting takes long time to be created.
The key concepts I learned from watching “Glass and Ceramics” are that glass and ceramics are very strong and the oldest man-made material. And I learnt that installation art has three-dimensional network and it is unique and getting better. The video relates to the reading in the chapters because they both discuss about important concepts. Even though the videos were long, they were interesting to watch. It allowed me to see more types of art.
