Art Gallery Visit 3

Hello Everyone
This is the last week before the exams. This week, we visited the art gallery again to look at portraits in order to create our own.
I chose two self portrait by Amrita Sher - Gil from Virtual Gallery: National Gallery of  Modern Art, Paris.
I visited Albright Knox Art Gallery but i could not find enough self portrait. The only self Portrait from Albright Knox that inspired me is Frida Kahlo.

Original Picture

The original picture is cropped because there are people in the back.
I selected these pieces because as a woman, I get inspired by other women who are very talented. Their posture points out their confident and that I like about women.
I used pencil to draw the portrait because it was easier than the other media.
While creating a self portrait, I kept drawing my face shape wrong and my eyes are not in the right place. To approve my portrait, I stopped myself from pressing on the paper hard. I drew the lines very light so it is easier for me to erase when I made the mistakes.
This piece represent me as I believe that I always have a natural look. Although I am smiling on my original picture, I was not able to draw a smile on my portrait.
I used the elements of lines and shapes on my self portrait.
I enjoyed working on this project because I was able to do something that i never thought I would. To be able to draw myself is a huge thing for me. It made me happy even though the result is not what I expected nor does it look like my original picture.
See you next week, Hopefully! 😃
