Hello Everyone, welcome back to my blog.
This week, we are
going to discuss about the article and some videos that we had to look at. The videos
are titled “Aesthetics: Philosophy of the Arts” in which the narrator tells us
different theories of different philosopher regarding art, and “CARTA:
Evolutionary origins of Art” which pretty much tells us where the art and aesthetics
came from.
By watching these two long videos, I learned many things
such as; that all the philosopher believed in different concepts when it came
to art, and that art has always been here since millions of years ago.
And the article is called “What the brain draws from: Art and
neuroscience” which talks regarding how our brain works in pointing our arts to
us. I learned that our brain attracts us to things that looks nice and
different. Faces in art, shadows and mirrors.
From the video “Aesthetics: Philosophy of the Arts”, I feel
Battista Alberti Leon’s theory is most important. He was an Italian architect,
and Artist during Renaissance era and he believed that beauty is harmony and
perfection. He said that beauty comes from accepting aesthetic law.
Changeux and Ramachandran's scientific view of aesthetics
and art were both very fascinating. An interesting fact from Changeux's
lectures was the Discovery of Art Structure about the humans. He says that
humans are relevant to art.
Ramachandran's lecture was very interesting too and it had
lots of informations. He said "works of art have such an effect on the
human mind" which I found interesting because it is amazing how a little
piece of art could do to our brain.
The videos and article relate to the readings in the text in
many ways. The videos and article talk about different theory regarding art, aesthetic,
science, human’s mind and different viewpoints of philosophers. The text
describes the artworks of different artists in the different era. They all
relate to the reading in the text as they all refer to where art came
from.
I am going to be honest about the length of the films. They were
long but interesting. The article was amazing and also long. It had lots of
different viewpoints and so much information regarding art and aesthetics. They
added depth to my understanding of the topics because the videos, article and the
reading made me understand art in a different and better way.
Goodbye😃
