Course Reflection

Hello
I cannot believe that this semester went by really fast. I did not have any expectation for this course. I knew what i was getting into; taking an online class which is not so hard. Now that i have been through this course, i believe art is everything. Everyday thing that we do such as painting nails, and drawing scribbles when we are bored.

Honestly, i don't remember what i said art was in my initial posting and i cannot seem to find that specific blog but i really think that my way of seeing art has changed since then. I do not remember who i said was my favorite artist neither but as of right now, Frida Kahlo is my favorite artist. She was very open minded and brave in her days. Moreover, she was very talented and i admire her for that.

I am taking more online courses next semester. To me, online courses are very easy and time saving. I believe that my answer is the same as before.

It was nice taking this course with you; Professor Jamie Tabone. I will for sure put good words in ratemyprofessor😊

Art Gallery Visit 3

Hello Everyone
This is the last week before the exams. This week, we visited the art gallery again to look at portraits in order to create our own.
I chose two self portrait by Amrita Sher - Gil from Virtual Gallery: National Gallery of  Modern Art, Paris.
I visited Albright Knox Art Gallery but i could not find enough self portrait. The only self Portrait from Albright Knox that inspired me is Frida Kahlo.

Original Picture

The original picture is cropped because there are people in the back.
I selected these pieces because as a woman, I get inspired by other women who are very talented. Their posture points out their confident and that I like about women.
I used pencil to draw the portrait because it was easier than the other media.
While creating a self portrait, I kept drawing my face shape wrong and my eyes are not in the right place. To approve my portrait, I stopped myself from pressing on the paper hard. I drew the lines very light so it is easier for me to erase when I made the mistakes.
This piece represent me as I believe that I always have a natural look. Although I am smiling on my original picture, I was not able to draw a smile on my portrait.
I used the elements of lines and shapes on my self portrait.
I enjoyed working on this project because I was able to do something that i never thought I would. To be able to draw myself is a huge thing for me. It made me happy even though the result is not what I expected nor does it look like my original picture.
See you next week, Hopefully! 😃

Project 4 - Reflection

Hello everyone, This week, we did  Art Curation.
Honestly, i created my PowerPoint in a rush because i completely forgot about the due dates and i have 3 other things plus 2 tests due on the same day. Good luck to me!!

Well, it was not easy brainstorming the theme; it took me an hour. I finally came up with "Love" theme for the project which is great i thought because there are plenty of pictures which represents love. Nop. I had trouble finding the right paintings. The only hard part about this project was finding the artwork, other than that, i had fun looking at the artworks and describing them.

Module 13 Videos Reviews

Hello everyone
This week, we watched three videos.
The key concepts that I learned from watching “The Lowdown on Lowbrow: West Coast Pop Art” are that art historians refer to it as pop surrealism and practitioners call it Lowbrow. I also learnt that no one else knows how to categorize art.
The key concepts I learned from watching “Tate Modern” Is that Tate curators developed a new method utilizing theme-based museums. I also learnt that work of art was categorized and displayed white walls.
The key concept I learned from watching “An Acquiring Mind: Philippe de Montebello and the Metropolitan” is that Phillipe de Montebello served for 31 years as director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Lowbrow video doesn’t relate to my exhibition because all of my works of art chosen for the theme have a well-defined category. The Tate approach did relate to my exhibition because it the method and the idea of curator both utilize a theme-based approach. Phillip de Montebello and the Metropolitan related to my art project because de Montebello carefully chooses works of art like I did for my exhibit.
The films were very interesting and added much depth to my understanding of the museums. I have a better understanding of process placing artifacts in a museum.
