Logo

Welcome back!!

When I saw the topic: Logo Design, I thought “oh..cool..logo”, I wasn’t happy about it because I thought it’d be hard to create my own logo. But, once I started gathering ideas, it became easier to draw them. I had to do a lot of thinking; thinking in the kitchen while cooking, thinking in the shower and moreover thinking while watching my TV shows.
It is amazing how when we are confused or stressed, our brain makes us think about the same topic over and over everywhere we go. I also had to do google search to look at examples and I found out something amazing: Firefox logo is of a fox on fire. When I told my friend about it, he was shocked about the fact that I just now see the fox on fire. He started laughing right away because its been years since the Firefox first came out.

The most important discovery that I made in the creation of my logo is that it is easy to think of an idea but when It comes to putting it on a piece of paper, it takes hours. I used stars, pencil, book, my initials(DD) and a heart and chicken because they are all part of who I am. I have tattoo of a star because to me, it represents guidance. Because of my Blog name “another one writes the blog”, I added a pencil and a book. And I love chicken. Inside the heart, the two eyes looking thing are my initials: that's who i am.
From the video, PowerPoint, and the reading material for this project, I learnt that designing a logo is a very long process and it includes the company, and the designer’s team. I also learnt about the basic information on how to design my own logo.
I thought the videos were interesting and that logo is a brand that describes you/ your company.

Art Gallery Visit

Hello everyone.
This week we were required to visit a art gallery. I went to Albright Knowx art gallery in Buffalo, NY and got to see many amazing artworks.
Artwork created by Isaac Soyer; Rebecca, 1940 Oil on canvas and Amedeo Modigliani’s La jeune bonne (The servant Girl), 1918 Oil on canvas made an impact on me. To distinguish these two artworks, Rebecca is a painting of a women in a nice suit whereas, the servant girl is a painting of a women in a maid dress. Rebecca amuses me because of its time. It was created in 1940, when feminism had recently started. The servant girl also amuses me because of the time and her job position. The painting has so many details such as her dress, her eyes, her hair, and the way she’s standing. This painting represents so many different things depending on how you interpret it. to me, I see a girl who has no right to do anything besides work for her master, she has eyes, but it appears like she cannot see as she has no pupils.

Two of the artworks that I feel a connection with are: Henri Matisse’s Notre-dame, une fin d’apres-midi (a glimpse of notre dame in the late afternoon), 1902 oil on paper mounted on canvas, and Giacomo Balla’s Dinamismo di un cane al guinzaglio (dynamism of a dog on a leash), 1912 oil on canvas. Notre-Dame glimpse has so many details and a great view that I feel like I am looking at it through my window. I could feel myself there when looking for a brief minute. I feel connected to the painting of a dog on a leash because of its speed. The dog and its owner are walking fast which to me symbolizes the rush. At first, it took me a while to see what the picture really is but once I saw it, I couldn’t stop looking at it.

I would like to know more about Charles Webster Hawthorne’s the family, 1911 oil on panel and John Wesley’s George Washington and three Indians, 1963 oil on canvas because in the art gallery there aren’t a lot of description regarding them. The painting of the family has great details of the family but how do we know they are really a family? They all look so unhappy that I am left with so many questions. And the painting of George Washington and three Indians are so simple yet complicated to understand. Why the three Indians?

Module 4

Hello Everyone

This week, we created Value Scale and Color Wheel. I thought it was very fascinating making the value scale and color wheel. I did not know how to make a color wheel, so I had to watch few videos, and even then, I made some mistakes.
But I definitely enjoyed creating the color wheel the best because I was able to see the ways how multiple colors can be mixed to create new different colors. With the color wheel, I was able to decide what color I need to add more of to get the desired color.
The most important discover in the creation of these studies was that you can add the color cyan, magenta, and yellow to create the color black.
The most important information I learned from watching these videos is that you can make any color using these three colors which is very amazing.

Module 3

Hello Everyone, Welcome back to my Blog😃

This week, we are going to talk about color and its effects on different things; such as emotions. To define color, I would say that color is the aspect of art that is created when light reaches an object. We see the color through the cones in our eyes, without these cones, we would not be able to see the colors. Each color has a unique way of influencing our emotions, the way we feel. It can be used to influence our mood.
For example, the color green represents good health, renewal, and calm. Green is used as an example for the calm emotion where as red is represented as anger and bad energy. If we are ever in an angry mood situation, the color green is used to calm us down. Another example is color black. Black represents depression. I once was in a timeshare in Florida where the color of the place was dark and the minute I walked inside, my mood changed, and I got little sad. But when I’d go outside in a bright place, my mood would always light up and I am back to being myself. That timeshare gave me bad vibe just because it was dark inside but according to my friend, I only felt that way because I took a shower in the dark😐. Well this proves that the color has effects on our emotions.

The theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates me is that it can represent so many different things. It represents our emotions, our health, our personality. It is never just one thing.

From the color video, the color red on the Titian’s Assumption of the Virgin painting made the biggest impact on me in regard to color and its effects on emotions. The painting is painted with different shades of red. No one would notice that unless they look into the painting for a brief minute.

Bye for now 👋

Module 2

Hello Everyone, welcome back to my blog.

This week, we are going to discuss about the article and some videos that we had to look at. The videos are titled “Aesthetics: Philosophy of the Arts” in which the narrator tells us different theories of different philosopher regarding art, and “CARTA: Evolutionary origins of Art” which pretty much tells us where the art and aesthetics came from.
By watching these two long videos, I learned many things such as; that all the philosopher believed in different concepts when it came to art, and that art has always been here since millions of years ago.
And the article is called “What the brain draws from: Art and neuroscience” which talks regarding how our brain works in pointing our arts to us. I learned that our brain attracts us to things that looks nice and different. Faces in art, shadows and mirrors.
From the video “Aesthetics: Philosophy of the Arts”, I feel Battista Alberti Leon’s theory is most important. He was an Italian architect, and Artist during Renaissance era and he believed that beauty is harmony and perfection. He said that beauty comes from accepting aesthetic law.
Changeux and Ramachandran's scientific view of aesthetics and art were both very fascinating. An interesting fact from Changeux's lectures was the Discovery of Art Structure about the humans. He says that humans are relevant to art.
Ramachandran's lecture was very interesting too and it had lots of informations. He said "works of art have such an effect on the human mind" which I found interesting because it is amazing how a little piece of art could do to our brain.
The videos and article relate to the readings in the text in many ways. The videos and article talk about different theory regarding art, aesthetic, science, human’s mind and different viewpoints of philosophers. The text describes the artworks of different artists in the different era. They all relate to the reading in the text as they all refer to where art came from.
I am going to be honest about the length of the films. They were long but interesting. The article was amazing and also long. It had lots of different viewpoints and so much information regarding art and aesthetics. They added depth to my understanding of the topics because the videos, article and the reading made me understand art in a different and better way.

Goodbye😃

Introduction

Hello Everyone My name is Durga and this Blog is for Educational purpose. Lets talk about the process of creating the Gmail and setting up the Blog..
Honestly, there is no word to describe how annoying it is that all the usernames are taken. I am on Lenovo laptop and since yesterday all the Buffstate websites are giving me hard time loading.
The picture above is what it shows on my laptop. Unfortunately, it is not the internet problem.  So, I opened up Blackboard on a PC to see the directions for the Blog. Once I created the new gmail account, everything got easier. It took me like 5 minutes the most to set up the Blog.

In this course, I am hoping to learn new things that I don't even know about. I have heard of Blogs before, but I never was interested but now that I actually need to use the Blog, It seems fun and Very interesting.

Since this Blog is for the online class which I am taking currently, I will be writing about the subject related to the class. I have taken online classes before and I love it. It is very easy and you don't even have to leave the house or the work place. As long as you actually do your work, taking online course shouldn't be that hard.

For this course, I had to watch videos related to Growth Mindset which in definition is the belief regarding the possibilities of our mind to grow. Few things from the video that i believe applies to me are: Determination, Never Giving Up, and Believing that all the hard work will eventually pay off.

When I set my mind to something, I have to achieve it. I once had a C for a midterm and I could not stop thinking about it. I was so determined to bring that grade up and eventually, I brought it up to an A. I couldn't stop the thought of me failing so I worked hard and every time I thought about giving up, I slapped myself.

Goodbye for now....✌

Course Reflection

Hello I cannot believe that this semester went by really fast. I did not have any expectation for this course. I knew what i was getting in...
